I received this copy in exchange for an honest review.
Those words haunt Scar’s dreams. She thinks the creature that terrorises her while asleep isn’t real, but when she’s abducted and taken to a reform school meant to contain creatures too dangerous to function in society, she starts to wonder whether she isn’t some monster.
She turns to an underground fight club full of vampires, werewolves and witches established by the students to control her urges, and who is she kidding, she loves to fight.
When fighters begin to disappear, turning Scar into the prime suspect, she must race to prove her innocence before her true nature is exposed.
The only problem is that she’s not entirely sure she’s innocent.
I enjoyed this but we seemed to just jump into the story without any real explanation. I found myself baffled at the beginning; we just start with a fight out of nowhere and I if I’m honest it started a little strange…
I continued to be baffled until we got to the school, that was when it started to pick up for me and I got quite into the story. I enjoyed the mystery of trying to figure out who was behind the disappearances and wondered if Scar had had anything to do with it during her “visions” but no…though I wont ruin it by giving it away.
I did enjoy it, though. It was different and I like different every so often. If you’re into young adult stories with a bit of mystery and intrigue then you will probably love this.
Well, I’m currently out of ideas for *Wolf Claimed*. I just seem to be repeating myself. If anyone has an helpful ideas on how Brent could claim Misha (I haven’t even thought of what cat she should be yet), then please let me know. If you’ve read the previous story Cat’s Wolf, then you know the background of the two, if not then don’t worry about it.
I’m thinking of having her nearing her needing, like Kaitlin in the first, only she’s now in a house full of wolves…
I’m going through a writer’s block/brain dead stage of things at the minute and though I keep writing in my notebooks, little bits for future chapters, it’s still not really going anywhere.
This may be one of those times to call on Natalie Herzer, my author friend for help. (BTW, you should totally check her books out on Amazon!!) http://n-herzer.blogspot.co.uk
In the mean time, I’m continuing to write the Hart of Dixie inspired piece, though it’s changed, into not being a love triangle and turning more into Fire Inside by Kristen Ashley which I’m reading at the minute as well as a few others (Full Blooded and Strange Angels (see Reading List tab above)). Though my characters wont be as old (not that 39/40 is old!) and I’m hoping to set it in a rural town/village in England. (With me being from Yorkshire, this may prove helpful because it’s hard basing something in America when you don’t live there :/)
Yeah, so “Road to…” as I’m currently calling it tells the story of Delaney, whose car breaks down in the middle of nowhere as she is trying to reach the little town/village where her sister is getting married the following day. She’s been walking in the hot sun for over an hour, with no cars passing by, when she hears the thrum of a motorbike coming her way. Quickly dropping her luggage, she runs into the middle of the road and flags the bike down. What’s a girl to do when the biker turns out to be one of the most attractive guys she’s ever seen?
Well, I haven’t quite decided that bit yet but I’m sure I’ll have fun thinking about it 😛
…leaving one more to go! Yay, me! It may be taking me a while to get this finished but I want to do it justice.
Anyway, I’m struggling for a book name. Any ideas, those who’ve been reading from the start? My author friend Natalie Herzer http://n-herzer.blogspot.com/ suggested Cat’s Wolf. Like it? I do but I’d love to hear some more suggestions…
Right, well, I thought I’d include an updated word count to prove I am still working on it but only in tiny increments (if that’s the right word). Chapter 16 is now on it’s third page–woohoo!–and is fitting in nicely, if it did start off a bit slow
Anyway, The page count has jumped up a little because I’ve formatted the document a little.
The end chapter may need to be split in two because I’ve been going over it in my head and I missed a lot of things out. I know where I’d split it too. Then I could do an epilogue to make it up to 20 chapters total; I don’t know why but I like an even number of chapters in my stories. Strange, I know, but that’s me 😛
So I’ve just finished writing the ending–it’s a few lines short of four A4 pages–and I’m fairly pleased with it. Now I just have to make Chapter 16 meet up with it somehow, though I do believe there will be at least another chapter in between the two. So that will be 18 chapters in total–a whopping (for me) 67 A4 pages in total. Over 30,000 words. I think that will make this story a novella, but I might be wrong, since it will be my first. 😀
Well i havent been well for the past few days and it’s totally put me off my writing (more so than i was) so i’ve decided to try and tackle my problem by filling in some of the many writing helpsheets i’ve downloaded over the past year or so.
I’ve just been filling them in and (un)surpringly to me, I cant fill half of the questions in…how bad is that? So anyway, I’m going to spend a while filling these in and hopefully it might make the story flow easier but at the minute i’m sticking to character profiles. Then i’ll start work on the settings.
Well firstly, i feel kinda bad because i havent posted anything for 10 days and if i did it would be the next chapter, 5 i think, and you’d have had half the story because i’ve been very bad lately and put off writing more because i still have no idea what to do next.
I kinda know what i want to happen but from a room full of shifters (where i am at the minute) to bounties on peoples heads and assassination attempts to the a shifter version of Alcatraz–if you have any good ideas for names for it, please feel free to let me know.
But i havent not been writing. I started three at the same time a week or so ago. One’s a vampire and supernatural hunter who get together after a bit of animosity. Another is “And Baby Makes Three” which as you may have guessed is a story of a night of passion which results in a baby. And the other is a sort of boss and employee thing but that one doesnt seem to be heading anywhere.
I’ve also had a few requests from my short-fiction.co.uk fans asking for certain stories and they’re in the works but not happening at the minute.
