So I’ve just published Charlotte & Sebastian to Smashwords and enrolled it in the site-wide promotion–which means it’s FREE!–so it is now available to read in various formats and hopefully it going through the “meat-grinder” process hasn’t made it unreadable. Unfortunately, it hasn’t automatically been added to the Premium Catalogue, and been made available to other sites–B&N, iTunes–but I’ll be working to make it so when I get in from work later. Happy reading! 😀

Caught between two vampires, Connie is torn between Rurik, the one she loves and Tane, the one she’d love to stake. Hunger burns in Connie Bences’ soul–she craves the blood of her vampire lover, Rurik, but it’s not satisfying her needs anymore. It’s driving her insane.
Desperate to find help, Rurik brings her to Rio De Janeiro, where Tane rules the vampire nation. The back-stabbing vampire almost killed her and Rurik when they’d first met, then used them to obtain his crown. She would rather stake him, but the small drop of Nosferatu blood he’d forced her to drink in Budapest is blooming into a bond, one which ties her life to his. One he won’t hesitate to manipulate.
He admits to binding her so Rurik would have to remain at his side, but their timing couldn’t be any worse. The betrayer finds himself betrayed. Tane’s rule is in upheaval and he’s forced to place his trust in two people who owe him no allegiance—her and Rurik. In the middle of a power struggle, Connie fights to keep her lover, but didn’t plan on Tane slipping into her heart.
I read the first book, Bait, back in February 2012 and loved it. I still remember a lot of what happened and with how many books I read, that’s a miracle! I think it was the whole using humans as bait to catch evil vampires that drew me in and hooked me.
This carries on from the last with just a few months passing and Connie and Rurik are in Rio. I will say that you don’t necessarily need to read the first book for this to make sense but it does help to understand the connection between Rurik, Connie and Tane.
The author has this way of writing that draws you in and makes you want to get lost in the world she weaves. I will quite happily get lost in it. (Bring on book 3!)
Tane was an odd one for me, through both books, but he evolved a lot in this and we got to know him a lot more and it’s obvious he isn’t as bad as previously thought. Rurik is still the protective, nice, sexy vampire from the first and Connie still likes to kick arse when she needs to.
Though there are a few sex scenes throughout the story, there is also a good, strong plot to get lost in. I guess I should mention that it has a ménage scene in it near the end (M/M/F) that had been brewing for a long time and it was quite hot.
I cant wait to read the third book in the series to find out what’s going to happen next.(

I’m giving Charlotte & Sebastian away free today and tomorrow on Amazon. There are links to the book in the sidebar (the image of the girls face in the “My Books at…”).
So you’ll probably know by now that I never set plans or plots for my stories, I just go with the flow whenever inspiration hits. I can’t quite say that’s I’m hit by it at the minute but considering C&S is set for release in two weeks and I’m working on the most crucial bit of the story: the ending!, I think it’s time I at least tried to work on it.
I’m about a chapter and a half from the ending currently and I’m trying to bring it around so they can kill the bad guy. Sounds fairly easy but we’ll see how it plays out :S. There will be 20 Chapters and I’m about halfway through Chapter 19. It may get an Epilogue just to sort of bring it together.
As mentioned in the title of the post, I’m looking for a beta/proof reader who could possibly read through my story and point out any errors ready for it’s release. If you’d like to know more about my story then click HERE to be taken to it’s Goodreads page. If this sounds like your sort of story, then leave me a comment and I’ll get back to you about it. Thanks!
Next month is my author friend Natalie Herzer’s birthday and she’s doing a Paranormal Giveaway in celebration of it and myself and two other authors as well as Natalie are taking part.

About the Books:
Charlotte & Sebastian
Charlotte works at the Agency, a place committed to stopping rogue paranormal beings from terrorizing members of the public.
Sebastian, a vampire, is the only paranormal working at the Agency and no-one but the Director knows why.
Charlotte should despise Sebastian, after all it was a vampire who murdered her family, but instead she finds herself drawn to him.
Sebastian is fascinated by Charlotte, the feisty young woman who equally wants and loathes him, and once he gets a taste of her he’ll do anything to make her his.
The Ivory Guard (Guard Duet,#1)
One peaceful afternoon Lillian finds two angels in her living room – wings and gloriole and all – telling her she is an Ivory. Half human and half angel she is born to fight for humankind and to guard the hellholes where the membrane between worlds is at its weakest.
She, an important warrior? Yeah, riiiight.
Life can make you fall
Raz might be an angel but he doesn’t do compassion. His job is to train her, to make her a leader and that’s what he will do. So Lillian will just have to suck it up when she discovers the deadly truth behind his words. When she does exactly that, he has to admit there’s more to the bookworm than he thought. Much more. But there’s one thing he shouldn’t forget – in his world feelings come with a price. Is he willing to pay?
Love will give you wings.
Golden Dunes of Renhala (Renhala, #2)
Kailey Rooke, karmelean, and now a possibly unethical karma-for-hire, has spent the past year jumping from project to project without any real hope for salvation. With repercussions from her actions at every turn, she discovers that as time goes on, she loses a bit more of herself to that which feeds on her anguish–that which is thriving inside her own body.
When a new contract to find a missing girl arises, Kailey attempts to put her past and its associated problems on the back burner, but she soon finds out that treachery and deceit lie shortly ahead in Golden Dunes, only giving face to new problems, with one leading right back to her childhood past.
She struggles to complete her contract as her own life teeters on a fulcrum, constantly tipping according to karma’s whim. How long will she keep her balance? Which way will she fall?
Shadow Touched (Shadow Roamer, #1)
Stella has always had a weakness for the dark so much so that she craves it like her next breath. While her friends would laugh at her weird moods, she has never felt anything more invigorating than sitting in lonely darkness. But one night, as restlessness strikes again, she finds herself face to face with the less peaceful facet night has to offer…
Making sure that humans stay to the light and darker creatures to the night, is a job he revels in. Until he meets Stella. Nero has never met a woman like her and soon realizes why: she is a Halfling; half shadow and half human, and an evidence of illicit interactions that is usually destroyed at birth, if not before. Nero knows the rules all too well but forbidden desire runs hot and before he knows it he pleads the King for four weeks.
Four weeks in which he has to train her.
Four weeks to show them that there is enough shadow inside of her…so that she may live.
Name: A Vampire’s Salvation (Beyond Human Novellas, #1)
Author: Virna DePaul
Genre(s): Paranormal Romance, Erotica, Romantic Suspense
Release Date: 22nd April 2013
Rating: 3 out of 5 stars

Francesca Marie Stewart has never wanted any man as much as she wants Jake Rios. His chiseled body and dark, intensely masculine energy draw her like a moth to a flame. But Frankie has been burned before, and now a mysterious figure from her troubled past has resurfaced with a terrifying new threat. Can she trust Jake not only with her heart but with her very life?
Jake’s hunger to possess this beautiful redhead goes beyond searing desire. He’s a vampire, and his very existence depends on bonding with a mate. He aches to ravish Frankie, but he must take it slow—for what he will ask of her will require profound sacrifice even as it gives her unimaginable pleasure. And once he has claimed her—body and soul—Jake will go to any lengths to protect her.
This is my second book by the author, the first Arrested by Love was also reviewed on my blog and can be found here.
I could tell this was going to be a hot read from the first chapter when Frankie was fantasising about Jake–Steamy!–and I wasn’t wrong.
You get to see from both Frankie’s and Jake’s POV, which is an advantage when Jake is described as being a serious, moody guy by Frankie. But then seeing from Jake’s POV just why he’s behaving like that balances it out and it switches between every so often.
The first sex scene between the pair took up a fair bit of the book but it also contains an intriguing plotline. Who was Frankie’s stalker and why were they stalking her? Unfortunately we don’t find out in this one but I hope the author is well on her way to finishing a second book in the series so we can.
I liked it but I also feel slightly cheated since we didn’t find out who was behind the attacks against Frankie. I’m left with more questions than answer but at the same time I’m happy that Jake and Frankie got a happy ending as they are both really likeable characters and deserve some happiness after what they’ve both been through.
Short and sweet. I will certainly read the next in the series when it comes out.
Well, after getting stuck on Chapter Nine, a sex scene no less, I took a bit of time off from writing and watched a few episodes of Hart of Dixie, which weren’t romantic per se or have any sex in them but they did help me see what a relationship was like–not always perfect–and it managed to help me finish the scene.
I’m now just starting Chapter Twelve and feel like I still have a lot to write about and explain in relation to Sebastian and his past, which Charlotte has no idea about. Hopefully all will go well and I’ll get it finished for it’s release date: April 21st currently. It seems so far away but I have a feeling it will be here before I know it.
You can find the book on Goodreads here: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/20468733-charlotte-sebastian

…what books to take. And here they are!
So these are the four lucky books I’ve chosen to take away with me. I always seem to do better reading the Morganville Vampire series when I’m abroad so books 13, Bitter Blood, and 14, Fall of Night, are coming with me. Then Blood Red Road is coming because I quite like a dystopia novel every now and then and finally my signed copy of Eversea just to add a bit of none paranormal/sci-fi to the mix.
I have been known to devour books in the down-time between outings while on holiday so you never know, I may end up coming back with more than I went with ;D
I’ll also be taking my notebooks with me, because with no laptop, that’s where my writing happens and hopefully San Francisco will give me plenty of ideas/inspiration for me to get on with books 0.5 and 3 in my Shifter Romance Novella series.
Author: Ryan Field
Genre: M/M Romance, Vampires, Mobster
Release Date: 3rd April 2013
I received this copy in exchange for an honest review.
I hate DNF’s. I always feel bad for not finishing them but sometimes I just cant get into a story. I stopped at 38%. This will be my second in a row now
So, once again, as I didn’t finish it I will copy the synopsis off GoodReads:
“In Field’s novel, protagonist Anton Pagano looks and sounds just like any other twenty-something. He lives in northern New Jersey with his mom and dad, and he’s never had to worry about anything other than his wardrobe, his latest new car, and the secret love affair he’s been having for years. However, Anton has more than just the love affair to hide: he belongs to a Sicilian vampire mobster clan that migrated to New Jersey in the late 1800s.
When Anton’s dad, the head of their clan, decides it’s time for Anton and his vampire cousin Digger to get into the “family business,” Anton is not enthusiastic, at least until he meets a sweet young human named Leo on his first night at work. They wind up spending the rest of the night together, but things get even more complicated when they bring Anton’s secret vampire lover into the picture.
After a bloody battle with werewolves, and the beginning of all-out war between two vampire mob clans the characters wind up on the precipice of their last resort.”
Right. Well, I expected this to be better–that sounds bad I know–but I was expecting them to be these tough vampires who kicked arse while running an illegal empire. In a way it was, but it didn’t seem bad-arse enough for me. Sure there were a few scenes with retribution/warnings handed out to people but I didn’t feel it.
Another thing that got me was all the mention of family and it’s many members. Yeah I know families are important in Italian/Sicilian cultures but more people kept getting mentioned and I found myself getting confused. What with Anton and someone else being turned by one person and his dad and uncle turned by someone else and this guy turned by the brother of that guy making them cousins…I got lost. It was a little too much for me to keep up with.
The relationship between Anton and Leo happened a little too fast for me to believe. Not the sex–he’s an attractive guy after all–but the “love you’s” and how strong their feelings were after the one night they spent together. Or maybe I just missed something?
It’s not a bad story, it was just a little different to what I normally read; the mobster/gangster bit anyway. If you like vampires, mobsters and m/m stories then you will probably like this.
